Cass County Republicans Fall Dinner
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
Last weekend, Kathy, Teddy, Ryan, and I flew-in for the Cass County Republican Party's annual fall dinner in Logansport. As you may know, I'm a commercial-rated pilot and aviation has always been a passion of mine. The weather was simply beautiful, making it a great day to fly. I would also like to thank the team at Logansport/Cass County Airport for all their incrediable hard work.
Todd, Kathy, Teddy, and Ryan before the flight.
The crowd was excited for the upcoming election and it was great to see other candidates like State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, State Rep Heath VanNatter, and State Senator Randy Head.
I was also pleased to meet new friends like former Air Force Srgt Don Lottle.
In my short remarks to the audience I expressed my belief that America is an exceptional country and can remain that way if we adhere to the principles our Founding Fathers laid out for us in our founding documents. Free enterprise is the only system that has demostrated its succuss in addressing the problems that we as a nation face. Contrary to President Obama's response, goverment is NOT the solution.
I am so proud of Cass county and it would be an honor to serve them again in Congress, just as I did when I was SOS.
After the event, Kathy, the boys and I were able to enjoy the lighter side of campaign work as we were able to play tag at Logansport Airport. All in all, it was a great Sunday afternoon.
Hendricks Co. GOP Reagan BBQ 9-23-12
On Saturday, September 23, I was honored to be a featured speaker for the quadrennial Hendricks County GOP Ronald Reagan BBQ. I would like to thank those of you that were able to attend. I was encouraged by the large number of committed Hoosiers that came to hear the featured candidates speak.
In addition to brief remarks, I led a public reading of the Declaration of Independence with volunteers from my campaign. The reading of our Declaration of Independence by young and old make me optimistic of our future and our resolve to Keep the Republic.
I want to thank our next governor, Representative Mike Pence, for his inspiring words and his pledge to lead this nation and state. I look forward to working with Mike to make Indiana an even greater example of common-sense government that believes it in its people.
I would also like to thank U.S. Senate candidate, State Treasurer Richard Mourdock for his continual leadership in Indiana. It is critical we send this man to Washington to attain a majority in the Senate. Much of my work in the House is dependent on a Senate that acts with urgency to solve our debt crisis. Richard Mourdock would be a willing partner in that goal.
Ultimately, this election comes down to you. Please engage your family, friends, and neighbors about getting out to vote. As I said last night, the future of this nation is for the children of tomorrow, those who are not even born yet. We must be new statesmen that reach across generations to ensure our Republic is kept and America remains exceptional.
